Gossip Girl: A Love Letter to New York

If you're a fan of the Gossip Girl reboot, you know that New York City is more than just a backdrop for the scandalous lives of Manhattan's elite. It's a character in its own right, a vibrant and diverse metropolis that offers endless possibilities for adventure, romance, and drama. Whether you're a Constance Billard student, a Dumbo dweller, or a Brooklyn bohemian, you can't help but fall in love with the city that never sleeps.

In this blog post, I'll share some of the details from the show that make me swoon over New York, and some of the real-life locations that you can visit to feel like you're part of the Gossip Girl universe.

The Museums

One of the perks of living in New York is having access to some of the world's finest museums and cultural institutions. The Gossip Girl reboot pays homage to this by featuring several iconic venues, such as:

- The Museum of the City of New York, which doubles as the exterior of Constance St. Jude, the prestigious private school attended by most of the main characters. The museum showcases the history and diversity of New York through exhibitions, programs, and collections.

- The Metropolitan Museum of Art, where the original Gossip Girl gang used to hang out on the steps. The new generation still visits the museum, but they also appreciate the art inside, such as the Alice Neel retrospective in episode one.

- The Public Theater, where Obie takes Zoya to see a play by Jeremy O. Harris, the acclaimed playwright and Gossip Girl writer. The theater is a landmark of downtown culture, producing groundbreaking works by diverse artists.

The Restaurants

New York is a foodie's paradise, with cuisines from all over the world and restaurants for every occasion. The Gossip Girl reboot showcases some of the hottest spots in town, such as:

- Locanda Verde, where Julian grabs breakfast before school. The Robert De Niro-owned restaurant serves rustic Italian fare in a cozy setting in Tribeca.

- Indochine, where Max makes a scene at his father's birthday party. The legendary French-Vietnamese restaurant is a favorite among celebrities and fashionistas for its exotic decor and delicious dishes.

- Le Coucou, where Julian and Zoya have a tense family dinner. The elegant French restaurant is designed by Roman and Williams, and features refined cuisine by chef Daniel Rose.

The Hangouts

New York is never boring, with plenty of places to have fun, relax, or get into trouble. The Gossip Girl reboot explores some of the coolest hangouts in the city, such as:

- Dumbo Hall, where Julian throws a party for Zoya's birthday. The trendy event space is located in a former warehouse in Brooklyn, and offers stunning views of the Manhattan skyline and the Brooklyn Bridge.

- Fan Fan Doughnuts, where Obie gets his morning fix. The popular doughnut shop is run by pastry chef Fany Gerson, who creates inventive flavors using seasonal ingredients and natural colors.

- J.G. Melon, where Zoya and Obie go for burgers. The classic American pub is known for its juicy burgers, crispy fries, and cozy atmosphere.

New York is more than just a city - it's a state of mind. It's a place where anything can happen, where dreams come true, and where gossip spreads like wildfire. It's a place that inspires me every day, and I hope it inspires you too.

XOXO,

Gossip Girl
