Remembering Angus Cloud: A Rising Star Gone Too Soon

Angus Cloud, the actor who played the lovable drug dealer Fezco on HBO's hit series Euphoria, has passed away at the age of 25. His family confirmed the news in a statement on Monday, July 31, 2023, saying that he died at his family home in Oakland, California. They also revealed that he had buried his father last week and struggled with his loss and his mental health.

Cloud was a newcomer to the acting scene when he was cast as Fezco, a high school dropout who sells drugs with his younger adoptive brother Ashtray (Javon Walton). He was scouted by casting director Jennifer Venditti while working at a restaurant in Brooklyn, NY. His first acting job was Euphoria, where he quickly became a fan favorite for his portrayal of Fezco, a tough but caring friend to Rue (Zendaya), the main character who battles addiction.

Cloud appeared in both seasons of Euphoria, which won several Emmys and received critical acclaim for its raw and realistic depiction of teenage life. He also starred in a couple of indie films, such as North Hollywood and The Line, and appeared in music videos by Juice WRLD, Becky G and Karol G.

Cloud's death has shocked and saddened many people, especially his co-stars and colleagues from Euphoria. Zendaya posted a tribute on Instagram, saying that she was "heartbroken" and that Cloud was "one of the kindest people" she ever met. Sydney Sweeney, who plays Cassie on the show, wrote that Cloud was "a light in this world" and that she will miss him "more than words can say". Storm Reid, who plays Rue's sister Gia, said that Cloud was "a beautiful soul" and that she will always love him. Kid Cudi, who guest-starred on the show as Rue's sponsor Ali, tweeted that he was "devastated" and that Cloud was "a sweet kid with a bright future". Kerry Washington, who is an executive producer on the show, also expressed her condolences on Twitter, calling Cloud "a brilliant talent" and sending love to his family.

The creator of Euphoria, Sam Levinson, also released a statement, saying that Cloud was "an extraordinary human being" and "a rare talent". He praised Cloud for his honesty, generosity and courage as an actor and as a person. He said that Cloud was "a joy to work with" and that he will be "deeply missed by all of us who knew him". He also thanked Cloud for bringing Fezco to life and for being "a part of our Euphoria family".
